In supporting their long-time friend and colleague, as well as the LGBTQ community as a whole, the sketch comedy group JK! Studios released a short skit featuring its first gay character.
The character, played by Stacey Harkey, mirrors real life; in December 2018, Harkey announced in a vulnerable social media post that he is gay. Of the sketch, Harkey wrote on social media: “This is the first time, in our history of making comedy, that we’ve ever featured a gay character. I feel so blessed to have a group of friends that stand for love and inclusion.”
JK! Studios focuses on family-friendly comedy and many of its members are currently in the semi-finals of NBC’s comedy competition show, “Bring the Funny.” You can learn more about the group and watch more videos here.
