For Mormons, the hottest dating app as of late isn’t Tinder; it’s Mutual. To celebrate the official release of Mutual for Android, the company teamed up with Stacey Harkey from the Studio C sketch comedy group to film a comedic sequel to its Kickstarter video that went viral among Mormon Facebook users earlier this year.
“We thought it would be fun to keep our two main actors in this sequel to show the progression of Mormon relationships”, said Cooper Boice, Mutual’s Founder. “At the end of the original video, Stacey and his female co-star matched and walked off together.”
In the sequel, Stacey and his co-star are married and offer dating advice to a young family member who visits home for the holidays. This character interaction in the sequel underpins the real-life success Mutual has achieved.
According to Mutual’s estimates, the app has already led to tens of thousands of dates and over a hundred engagements and marriages for LDS couples.
