A new documentary from Netflix will cover the ongoing case of Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell, who await trial for the murder of multiple people, including Vallow’s two children.
“Sins of Our Mother” features exclusive interviews with Vallow’s surviving son Colby who “steps forward to provide exclusive insight into his family’s backstory as well as their present-tense narrative as Lori faces justice. At the heart of this three-part series is a single burning question: how did a seemingly normal woman become the most notorious mother in America?”
The victims include 16-year-old Tylee Ryan, 7-year-old J.J. Vallow, and Daybell’s wife Tammy. Vallow is also charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the death of her husband Charles.
The Daybell case took the nation by storm and was especially riveting for those connected to Latter-day Saint religions. Vallow and Daybell, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, began an extremist group that claimed the end of the world was near. Vallow and Daybell, who had lived multiple lives together, would lead their followers to safety. The two also claimed to be able to distinguish between good and evil spirits.
Below is an interview with Melanie Gibbs, someone closely related to the story, with East Idaho News.
