“The Time Traveler’s Radio Show” Brings Family-Friendly Entertainment to Your Earbuds

A new podcast started by a group of Latter-day Saint creators looks to bring high-quality, clean entertainment to your earbuds.

The Time Traveler’s Radio Show is an original, family-friendly scripted podcast about time travelers who get stuck in the 1940s. Trapped in the ’40s and with communication systems to the future down, the team is forced to use the only communication then available: the radio! Telling their story as a 1940s style sci-fi radio adventure, they are desperate to have someone in the future hear and rescue them, as they hold the fate of the universe—a small pocket watch—in their very hands. Told as a show-within-a-show, this sci-fi radio adventure seeks to bring the audience into the action, as the show is presented as found footage from the lost age of radio.

It’s the brainchild of Cody Cutler, Jake Earnest, and a group of talented young actors. “I had been a playwright and a screenwriter for a long time, but during my last semester at BYU-Idaho, I took a one-credit audio production class and realized how cool it could be to do a radio play,” Cutler said. The idea of time travelers who get stuck in the golden age of radio and need to use the device contact the future formulated quickly, but it wasn’t until many years later that Cutler joined with Earnest to flesh out the story and start recording.

The team’s beliefs are at the heart of how the show was created. “We both believe in the power of quality, clean entertainment and wanted to create something that could be both widely popular as far as the writing and comedy, but also be completely clean and appropriate for everyone who listens,” Cutler said. “We don’t believe you need inappropriate language or content to make something truly special. We are committed to that idea and The Time Traveler’s Radio Show will always produce entertainment that is appropriate for everyone, but that is high in quality and production value. It’s also an extremely fun and original sci-fi adventure, different from much of which you’ve heard before.”

The Time Traveler’s Radio Show will be available on Apple Podcast, Spotify, Google Podcast, Amazon Music/Audible, YouTube, and Podbean starting on June 22, 2021. Cutler hopes you’ll tune in and share your thoughts.

We believe we’ve made something truly special and want to keep making this show for several more seasons to come. That being said, we need your help at home! If you like our show after listening to it, please consider giving us a 5-star review on your podcast app of choice and then sharing it with your family and friends. Doing so will help us rise in visibility and ensure that we can get sponsorship and funding to allow us to keep making this show!”
