Tim Gates, lead singer of Due West and a singer/songwriter for the popular Nashville Tribute Band, was featured in a new Mormon.org video this week.

Part of Mormon.org’s “I’m a Mormon” series, Gates discusses country music, but then spends most of the time talking about his time serving those with severe disabilities, including another man named Timmy Tim. Timmy fetal alcohol syndrome and Gates and his family take care of him after a special request from Timmy’s mother.

Watch the video above to learn more about Gates, Timmy Tim, and love.

In his Mormon.org profile, Gates mentions how singing brings him closer to Christ.

“My favorite thing to do is sing, I LOVE singing, especially when I can sing songs about my Redeemer.  My favorite saying is by St. Augustine: “He who sings, prays twice.”  Singing adds to our praise and worship of God. Sung prayer expresses the joy of the heart, the happiness resulting from one who has encountered Jesus Christ and experienced his love.”

Gates is featured in the music video for John’s Song, a new single off the Nashville Tribute Band’s new CD, REDEEMER: A Nashville Tribute to Jesus Christ.

  1. Tim, I knew Timmy Tim 30 years ago in Louisville 1st Ward in Louisville, Kentucky. Can I get his address and write him? Bet you haven’t seen Cheerleader Timmy. He’s too old for that now. He is the best!
