This Book of Mormon FHE lesson helps teach the power pure testiimiony and how we can strengthen our personal testimonies. Our FHE lessons include three lesson plans for different ages, treat recipes, activity ideas, and more.

Alma 1:25

Now this was a great trial to those that did stand fast in the faith; nevertheless, they were steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of God, and they bore with patience the persecution which was heaped upon them.

Testimony | Hymn #137

  1. The witness of the Holy Ghost,

As borne by those who know,

Has lifted me again to thee,

O Father of my soul.

  1. I know that thou art in the heav’n.

I know the Savior reigns.

I know a prophet speaks to us

For our eternal gain.

  1. My eyes are wet; my heart is full.

The Spirit speaks today.

O Lord, wilt thou my life renew

And in my bosom stay.

  1. As testimony fills my heart,

It dulls the pain of days.

For one brief moment, heaven’s view

Appears before my gaze.

Scripture: Read Alma 4:19

Ask: What is a pure testimony?

Read “What is a Testimony?” from the June 2024 Friend magazine to teach the children about a testimony.

Ask: Why is it important to have a strong testimony?

Read “5 ways to build your testimony” from the June 2024 Friend magazine and discuss with the children how they can each strengthen their testimony. Consider what you can do as a family to build your testimonies.

Share a brief testimony with the children and invite each of them to share their testimony or to write it on a piece of paper.

Ask: What is the importance of sharing our testimonies with others?

Testimony: Close the lesson with your testimony on building and sharing testimonies.

Read: In Alma 1 we read of Nehor who preaches false doctrines and builds up his own church. There are many in the world today who preach false doctrines and we need to learn how to recognize these doctrines.

Scripture: Read Alma 1:2-6 and look for the lies Nehor teaches and how he hides these lies within truths.

Ask: What are some examples of false teaching in the world today?

Scripture: Read Matthew 7:21–232 Nephi 26:29–31Mosiah 18:24–26; and Helaman 12:25–26

Ask: Where can we turn to truth in this world when an overwhelming amount of information is available to us?

Scripture: Read Alma 1:7, 9

Ask: What does Gideon do to stand against Nehor? How can you stand up against false teachings?

Share any relevant personal experiences. Finish with your testimony.

Study President Dallin H. Oak’s message “Love Your Enemy” from the October 2020 general conference. As you study this talk, read Mosiah 29:26–27; Alma 2:1–7 and think of ways you can be a positive influence on your community.
