Scripture

2 Nephi 25:26

And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

Hymn

I Believe in Christ | Hymns, no. 134

1.I believe in Christ; he is my King!
With all my heart to him I’ll sing;
I’ll raise my voice in praise and joy,
In grand amens my tongue employ.
I believe in Christ; he is God’s Son.
On earth to dwell his soul did come.
He healed the sick; the dead he raised.
Good works were his; his name be praised.

2.I believe in Christ; oh blessed name!
As Mary’s Son he came to reign
’Mid mortal men, his earthly kin,
To save them from the woes of sin.
I believe in Christ, who marked the path,
Who did gain all his Father hath,
Who said to men: “Come, follow me,
That ye, my friends, with God may be.”

3.I believe in Christ—my Lord, my God!
My feet he plants on gospel sod.
I’ll worship him with all my might;
He is the source of truth and light.
I believe in Christ; he ransoms me.
From Satan’s grasp he sets me free,
And I shall live with joy and love
In his eternal courts above.

4.I believe in Christ; he stands supreme!
From him I’ll gain my fondest dream;
And while I strive through grief and pain,
His voice is heard: “Ye shall obtain.”
I believe in Christ; so come what may,
With him I’ll stand in that great day
When on this earth he comes again
To rule among the sons of men.

Lesson

FOR CHILDREN

Begin the lesson by watching this video of Jesus Christ visiting the people in Ancient America.

Ask: How does Jesus Christ bring joy to the people in this video?

Scripture: Read aloud 2 Nephi 25:26

Ask: How can you rejoice in Christ?

Share: Tell the children how you rejoice in Christ.

Finish the lesson with your testimony.

FOR TEENS & ADULTS

Begin the lesson by having everyone think of an apostle or prophet that has resonated with them. Have the group share who it is and why. Be prepared to share your own example.

Read aloud: Just as we often resonate with the words of a certain prophet, Nephi did too. He took great care to engrave the words of Isaiah onto metal plates. This wasn’t an easy process, but he believed the words of Isaiah were so important for his people and us today.

Have someone read 2 Nephi 25:26. Before you read it, ask everyone to think about why Nephi thinks the words of Isaiah, and all the scriptures, are important.

And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

Ask: What does this scripture teach us about studying the words of God?

Read aloud: Isaiah’s prophecies about Christ can be confusing sometimes. Nephi gave counsel on how we can better understand Isaiah’s writings. He said to “liken his words unto” yourself and to seek to be “filled with the spirit of prophecy.”

Ask: What are some ways you’ve strived to have the spirit with you and liken the scriptures to your own life?

Finish the lesson by bearing your testimony.

FOR SINGLE STUDY

Read Elder Neil L. Andersen’s message, We Talk of Christ” and think of ways you can speak of Christ more often in your daily life. Look for opportunities throughout the week to talk of Christ openly with others.
