Book of Mormon FHE Lesson – “Armed with Righteousness and with the Power of God”

- Advertisment - Save on Great LDS Gifts

Nephi sees a vision of the tree of life and events that would take place in the future such as the life and ministry of the Savior. In this Come, Follow Me FHE lesson, you will learn more about the importance of seeking answers to questions from sources of truth. Our FHE lessons include three lesson plans for different ages, treat recipes, activity ideas, and more.

1 Nephi 14:14

And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory.

He Sent His Son | Children’s Songbook, #34–35

How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness?

He sent his Son, a newborn babe, with peace and holiness.

How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go?

He sent his Son to walk with men on earth, that we may know.

How could the Father tell the world of sacrifice, of death?

He sent his Son to die for us and rise with living breath.

What does the Father ask of us? What do the scriptures say?

Have faith, have hope, live like his Son, help others on their way.

What does he ask? Live like his Son.

Activity: Show the children pictures of The Birth of Jesus, Jesus being baptized by John the Baptist, Jesus Christ teaching others, Christ Healing the Sick, and The Crucifixion of Christ. After looking at these pictures read 1 Nephi 11:20, 24, 27, 31, and 33 and help the children match the pictures with the correct verse that describes that event.

Ask: What did you learn about Jesus Christ from these verses?

Scripture: Read 1 Nephi 11:22–23.

Ask: What did you learn about God’s love from these verses?

Read: God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to atone for each of us, so we can live with God again one day. This shows us how much our Heavenly Father loves and cares for each of us.

Share: Tell the children how you have felt God’s love in your life.

Ask: How do you know that God loves you?

Testimony: Close with your testimony of God’s love.

Scripture:  Read 1 Nephi 2:16 and 1 Nephi 15:6–11.

Ask: What is the difference between Nephi and Laman and Lemuel in these verses?

Read: Nephi chose to ask the Lord for answers to his questions while Lamen and Lemuel did not. We are surrounded by an overload of information. We can be like Nephi and choose to look for answers from truthful sources. We can choose to rely on worldly sources of information or turn to the words of God to find truth. God wants to help us find the truth, but we must do our part in asking Him in prayer and seeking answers in the scriptures.

Ask: How can you be more like Nephi when you have questions?

Share: Tell of an experience when you sought answers to a question through prayer and scripture study.

Ask: What are some sources of truth you can look to for answers?

Testimony: Close with your testimony.

Read “With the Power of God in Great Glory,” by David A. Bednar, and think of ways God has armed you with righteousness.
