FHE Lesson on Faith – Blessings of Faith

- Advertisment - Save on Great LDS Gifts

This FHE lesson on faith helps us understand the blessings of a righteous life and how we can bolster our faith in difficult times.

Moroni 7:37

It is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men

When Faith Endures | Hymn #128

I will not doubt, I will not fear;
God’s love and strength are always near.
His promised gift helps me to find
An inner strength and peace of mind.
I give the Father willingly
My trust, my prayers, humility.
His Spirit guides; his love assures
That fear departs when faith endures.

Begin the lesson by asking the children to think of a scripture story where someone had faith. Have them share why they like the story and what blessings the person experienced when they were faithful.

Read aloud: When we have faith in Jesus Christ, we are blessed. Blessings from God come in many different ways. Sometimes, the blessings are immediate. Sometimes, they don’t come for a long time. Sometimes, the blessings are exactly what we want. Sometimes, the blessings are so unexpected we have to look really hard to see and understand them.

Ask: What are some blessings of faith?

Share an experience where you had faith and received a blessing.

Ask: What blessings do you have because you’re building faith in Jesus Christ?

Read aloud: We building faith in Jesus by following His gospel. We keep the commandments and we do our best to listen to the Holy Ghost. It is easy to have faith when things are good. However, it can be a lot harder to have faith when things are bad. When we have faith no matter what, God will bless us according to His will.

Ask: How can we make our faith strong?

Finish the lesson by bearing your testimony.

Begin the lesson by giving everyone a few minutes to read through Moroni 7:21-28. Ask them to pay attention to specific blessings Moroni lists that come from faith. Discuss.

Read aloud: Faith in Jesus Christ is the first principle of the gospel. It is through faith that miracles are wrought. President Gordon B. Hinckley once said about the power of faith:

“What a marvelous and wonderful thing it is, this powerful conviction that says the Church is true. It is God’s holy work. He overrules in the things of His kingdom and in the lives of His sons and daughters. This is the reason for the growth of the Church. The strength of this cause and kingdom is not found in its temporal assets, impressive as they may be. It is found in the hearts of its people. That is why it is successful. That is why it is strong and growing. That is why it is able to accomplish the wonderful things that it does. It all comes of the gift of faith, bestowed by the Almighty upon His children who doubt not and fear not, but go forward.”

Not only is the Church blessed by faith, but so are we in our individual lives.

Ask: What are some blessings that come because we have faith? Have you had a personal experience where you were blessed for your faithfulness?

Read aloud: It is important to remember that faith is not a transaction. Just because we are faithful doesn’t mean everything will be happy and cheery all the time. We do not always receive the blessings we want or when we want them. Sometimes we can see God’s hand working in other ways, but at other times it may be hard to see any blessings at all.

Ask: How can we keep our faith strong when blessings don’t come the way we expected?

Finish the lesson by sharing personal experiences and bearing your testimony.

Read through Hebrews 11 and Alma 32 and look for specific blessings that come from faith. Ponder on what blessings you’ve received personally and write them down. Kneel in prayer and thank God for those things.
