New Testament Come Follow Me Easter FHE Lesson – O Grave, Where Is Thy Victory?

- Advertisment - Save on Great LDS Gifts

Because of Jesus Christ, we will all live again! This special Easter New Testament FHE lesson teaches us about how Jesus conquered death and the eternal blessings we enjoy because of His Atonement. Each of our FHE lessons includes three lesson plans for different ages, treat recipes, activity ideas, and more.

Art by Annie Henrie Nader

1 Corinthians 15:55

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Christ the Lord Is Risen Today | Hymn #200

1. Christ the Lord is ris’n today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heav’ns, and earth reply, Alleluia!

2. Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the vict’ry won, Alleluia!
Jesus’ agony is o’er, Alleluia!
Darkness veils the earth no more, Alleluia!

3. Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once he died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!

Activity: Begin the lesson by holding a quick Easter egg hunt. Fill all of the eggs except for one, which will be left empty. Make this egg special in some way on the outside. It could a glittery egg or one with a sticker on it. Tell the children there is one special egg among all the rest they need to find. When they’ve found all of the eggs, take the special egg and have them open the rest. Ask them what they think is inside the special egg? Open the egg to reveal it is empty.

Ask: Can you think of why an empty egg is so special?

Read: This empty egg represents the empty tomb. Jesus died and was resurrected. Resurrected means to live again after we die. When the disciples came to the tomb, it was empty. Jesus was alive! Because He was resurrected, we will live again after we die. This is the greatest gift of Easter.

Share: Hold up pictures of family members that have passed away. Bear your testimony that because Jesus died, we will all live again.

Questions: Ask your children if they have any questions about what happened during Easter or what resurrection means. Close with your testimony.

Video: Begin the lesson by watching the following video. Before pressing play, ask everyone to ponder on how the good news of Easter has impacted their lives.

Ask: What are some of the blessings we receive because of the Atonement and Resurrection of Christ?

Read: We have the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We know that because of Him, we will live again. The disciples who first learned of this good news bore powerful testimony of what they experienced and saw.

Scriptures: Read the following scriptures together. The, gather and discuss what you think the disciples felt.

  • Matthew 28:1-10
  • Luke 24:13-35
  • John 20:19-29

Ask: How can we be witnesses of the Resurrection of Christ today?

Testimony: Close with your testimony of Easter.

Read through “The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles.” As you read, ponder on what particular message of Easter you would want someone to know about. Prayerfully make a plan on how to share that message with someone in need, whether it is through a note, a text message, a post on social media, or whatever way you feel so inspired to share.
