As Paul continues his epistle to the Hebrews he reminds them of faithful saints throughout history such as Enoch, Noah, Moses, and more. In this Come, Follow Me FHE lesson, you will learn more about the Melchizedek Priesthood and how to have faith in things that are not seen. Our FHE lessons include three lesson plans for different ages, treat recipes, activity ideas, and more.
Scripture
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Hymn
Faith | Children’s Songbook, 96–97
1. Faith is knowing the sun will rise, lighting each new day.
Faith is knowing the Lord will hear my prayers each time I pray.
Faith is like a little seed:
If planted, it will grow.
Faith is a swelling within my heart.
When I do right, I know.
2. Faith is knowing I lived with God before my mortal birth.
Faith is knowing I can return when my life ends on earth.
Faith is trust in God above;
In Christ, who showed the way.
Faith is strengthened; I feel it grow
Whenever I obey.
Lesson
FOR CHILDREN
Activity: To begin the lesson, you can show the children a paper fan and allow them to take turns feeling the air blowing across their faces. Explain to them that although air is invisible, we can feel it. Similarly, we can’t see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, but we can experience Their love and have faith in Their existence.
Ask: When have you felt Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ’s love for you?
Share: Tell the children about a time when you felt Their love for you.
Scripture: Read Hebrews 11:1 and summarize a few of the examples of faith given in Hebrews 11.
Read: We have many examples of faith throughout the scriptures and in our own lives. We can become like these amazing examples by having faith in Heavenly Father and Christ even though we can not see them.
Ask: Who is an example to you of having faith in things that you can not see?
Share:Tell the children of someone you look up to who has great faith.
Ask: How can you become more like these examples?
Testimony: Close with your testimony.
FOR TEENS & ADULTS
Read: In Hebrews 11 we learn about having faith in things that are not seen. We can not see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, but we can feel their love.
Ask: What are some things you can believe in without seeing?
Video: Watch this video depiction of Hebrews 11.
Ask: What can you learn from these examples of faith shown in this video?
Share: Share an experience when you have been blessed because you had faith.
Scripture: Read Alma 32:21, 26–43 together.
Ask: Using what we have learned today how would you define faith?
Testimony: Close with your testimony.
