The Galatian saints began to turn away from the gospel. Paul writes to invite them back to the freedom of the gospel. In this Come, Follow Me FHE lesson, you will learn more about the Abrahamic Covenant and the “fruits of the spirit.”. Our FHE lessons include three lesson plans for different ages, treat recipes, activity ideas, and more.
Scripture
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Hymn
Teach Me to Walk in the Light | Hymn #304
1. Teach me to walk in the light of his love;
Teach me to pray to my Father above;
Teach me to know of the things that are right;
Teach me, teach me to walk in the light.
2. Come, little child, and together we’ll learn
Of his commandments, that we may return
Home to his presence, to live in his sight—
Always, always to walk in the light.
3. Father in Heaven, we thank thee this day
For loving guidance to show us the way.
Grateful, we praise thee with songs of delight!
Gladly, gladly we’ll walk in the light.
Lesson
FOR CHILDREN
Activity: Give each of the children a piece of paper and some crayons. Invite each of them to draw a picture of their favorite type of fruit. You can then have them share with everyone else why they like that type of fruit.
Scripture: Read Galatians 5:22–23 aloud.
Ask: What are some of the “fruits of the spirit” that are mentioned in these verses?
Video: Watch this video about the “fruits of the spirit.”
Share: Tell the children of an experience when you have been blessed by the “fruits of the spirit.”
Read: As we choose to follow Christ we will see blessings in our lives. We all want to have the fruits of the spirit in our lives. We will receive the fruits of the spirit as we walk in faith and trust God’s plan for us.
Testimony: Close with your testimony.
FOR TEENS & ADULTS
Scripture: Read Galatians 3:7–9, 13–14, 27–29.
Ask: What are the requirements to receive the blessings of Abraham?
Read: We do not need to be literal descendants of Abraham to receive these blessings. We can all receive the blessings of the Abrahamic covenant as we have faith in the Savior Jesus Christ. When we choose to be baptized we take upon us the name of Christ. It is through His atonement that we can receive the promised blessings of Abraham.
Share: Share why the Abrahamic covenant is important to you.
Video: Learn more about the Abrahamic Covenant as you watch this video.
FOR SINGLE STUDY
There is peace, safety, and freedom in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Some may choose, like the Galatian Saints, to be led astray by false teachings. Read Galatians 5:1 and 2 Nephi 2:27. As you read these verses, ponder how the gospel of Jesus Christ makes you free. Consider watching this video on how you can show love to those who choose to turn away from the teachings of the gospel.
