As Latter-day Saints, we have a bold message. We believe Jesus Christ continues to follow an ancient pattern by speaking through living prophets. These relevant messages for God’s people today are shared most prominently in General Conference. For two days, anyone can tune in and hear what the Lord has to say to us.
However, inviting others to tune into General Conference can be intimidating. Here are three easy and simple ideas for inviting others to this important weekend.
1. Share on Social Media
A direct invitation is the most effective way to invite someone to anything. This is the scariest approach! To help with your confidence or reach a wider range of people, share the image below on social media. Or, post your own image. It can be your own graphic, a favorite photo of your family, or a picture of the prophet. Make sure to include a link to ChurchofJesusChrist.org and give the viewing times so others will know when to tune in.
2. A Prayerful Invitation
Jesus knows who is most ready to hear His words. Prayerfully consider who you might ask and then offer a simple, clear invitation with confidence. Here are a few ideas of what you might say or send:
- Every April/October, my family participates in a world-wide conference centered on Jesus Christ. Would you like to join us?
- We’ve been experiencing a lot of fear and uncertainty lately. Our Church is holding a special conference about finding Christ and finding peace. Would you like to tune in with us?
- I know how hard things have been for you lately. One thing that always helps me is my Church’s General Conference. Leaders receive revelation and help us understand what Jesus Christ wants us to do to find peace and joy in these troubling times.
- I’m so excited for my Church’s special conference this weekend. I’d love to tell you more about it!
3. Talk About It!
General Conference is often a very large part of our lives, but we don’t often talk about it. When someone asks about your weekend plans, don’t be shy about sharing why you’ll be tuning in. During General Conference, you can use social media and the hashtag #GeneralConference to highlight the things you love and how your family is focusing on the Lord.
