As part of their 2016 Christmas initiative, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is encouraging the world to participate in a worldwide day of service on December 1.

 

Whether you are looking for a random act of kindness or a group-oriented service project, we’ve gathered 50 different service ideas perfect for any and all circumstances! Find your favorite and prepare for lighting the world on December 1 and throughout the Christmas season. Learn more about lighting the world with the Church here!

  1. Smile to people as you walk by them.
  2. Give a sincere compliment.
  3. Call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while.
  4. Go through and leave nice messages on Facebook posts.
  5. Donate a little extra to humanitarian aide on your tithing slip.
  6. Leave an encouraging note in the soup aisle at the grocery store.
  7. Go through your closets and look for things to donate.
  8. Visit a nursing home and sing Christmas carols.
  9. Offer to babysit for a couple that could use a night out.
  10. Write thank-you notes for Church leaders.
  11. Pray for peace on earth.
  12. Make a Christmas package for missionaries serving from and in your area.
