New Testament Come Follow Me FHE Lesson – “For the Perfecting of the Saints”

- Advertisment - Save on Great LDS Gifts

Paul’s teaching in Ephesus caused some contention among the local people, but many still chose to follow Christ. In this Come, Follow Me FHE lesson, you will learn more about the importance of being obedient, and why we need to put on the “whole armor of God.” Our FHE lessons include three lesson plans for different ages, treat recipes, activity ideas, and more.

Hymn

Hope of Israel | Hymn #259

1. Hope of Israel, Zion’s army,
Children of the promised day,
See, the Chieftain signals onward,
And the battle’s in array!

[Chorus]

Hope of Israel, rise in might
With the sword of truth and right;
Sound the war-cry, “Watch and pray!”
Vanquish ev’ry foe today.

2. See the foe in countless numbers,
Marshaled in the ranks of sin.
Hope of Israel, on to battle;
Now the vict’ry we must win!

3. Strike for Zion, down with error;
Flash the sword above the foe!
Ev’ry stroke disarms a foeman;
Ev’ry step we conq’ring go.

4. Soon the battle will be over;
Ev’ry foe of truth be down.
Onward, onward, youth of Zion;
Thy reward the victor’s crown.

FOR CHILDREN

Video: Watch this video on why it is important to obey our parents.

Ask: What did you learn about obedience from this video?

Scripture: Read Ephesians 6:1 together

Ask: When have you been blessed by obeying your parents?

Share: Tell your children about a time when you were blessed for obeying your parents.

Read: Jesus Christ obeyed His parents when He was baptized. Christ was already perfect and did not need to be baptized for a remission of sins, but Heavenly Father commanded Him to be baptized. We can be like Christ by being obedient to the things our parents ask us.

Testimony: Close with your testimony of obedience.

FOR TEENS & ADULTS

Video: Watch this video on what it means to put on the whole armor of God.

Ask: Why do we need to have the whole armor of God?

Scripture: Read Ephesians 6:14–17

Ask: What are the different pieces of the “armor of God” that we need to have and how do they individually protect us?

Read: When we put on the “whole armor of God” we are protected against the darkness of the world. The armor of God helps us withstand trials and fight against evil.

Ask: How do we put on the “whole armor of God?”

Testimony: Close with your testimony of the protection of the “armor of God.”
