Doctrine and Covenants 47 followed, directing John Whitmer to keep a history of the Church. This instruction emphasized the importance of record-keeping and preserving the Church’s story.

Finally, Doctrine and Covenants 48 addressed the Saints’ need to prepare land for future arrivals as they gathered to Zion, highlighting the need for both temporal and spiritual preparedness.
