In his closing remarks in the Book of Mormon, the prophet-historian Moroni shared some of the words of his father, Mormon. The advice was tailored for a people that would live in a confusing and conflicted world. Mormon said, “But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God.”
On his mission in Portugal, Lucas Castro learned a lot of lessons. Lucas learned how to talk to people, how to teach, and how to turn to God for help. He also learned how God talks to him. But even more important than that, Lucas learned that God wants him to do good things. And that whether God is telling him to do good things or it’s just his own voice doesn’t really matter. Lucas said, “I personally believe if the thought is inspiring to do good it doesn’t matter if it comes from God, just do it.”
On a mission and in life we are going to face countless decisions and challenges. As we come to know the voices of the Lord and Heavenly Father we will know what they want and what they want us to do. We will be able to act in confidence and faith.
