Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Lesson
FOR CHILDREN
Begin the lesson by reading this definition of what it means to be humble from the Guide to the Scriptures.
- To make meek and teachable, or the condition of being meek and teachable. Humility includes recognizing our dependence upon God and desiring to submit to His will.
Scripture: Read Alma 32:13-16
Ask: What do these verses teach us about being humble?
Ask the children why humility is important and how it can improve their lives. Help them think of a few ways they can show humility this week.
Scripture: Read Alma 32:28
Read: Alma uses the seed analogy to illustrate the nature of our faith, conveying that when we nurture it, it will flourish and gain strength.
Ask: How can you nourish your faith?
To help illustrate this lesson plant a seed with the children. Write down what is needed to help the seed grow, such as light, water, and air. Help the children come up with several ways they can help their testimony grow. Over the next several weeks, as the children watch the seed grow, they can be reminded of how to nourish their testimony.
FOR TEENS & ADULTS
Scripture: Begin the lesson by reading Alma 34-9-16. Look for all the instances of infinite and eternal being used to describe the Savior’s Atonement.
Ask: Why is it important to understand that the Savior’s Atonement is infinite and Eternal?
Read or listen to Elder Kearon’s message from General Conference, “God’s Intent Is to Bring You Home” Pay attention to what he says about the infinite and eternal nature of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and God’s plan for us.
Ask: What would your life be like without this knowledge of the Savior’s Atonement? How does this Knowledge change your perspective during times of trials?
Finish the lesson with any other personal experiences and by bearing your testimony.
