On Monday night, President-elect Donald Trump confirmed he will not be choosing former LDS presidential nominee Mitt Romney for secretary of state. According to two sources, Trump called Romney to give him the news after a long vetting process.

Romney took to social media to share his thoughts:

“It was an honor to have been considered for Secretary of State of our great country. My discussions with President-elect Trump have been both enjoyable and enlightening. I have very high hopes that the new administration will lead the nation to greater strength, prosperity and peace.”

Trump officially declared Tuesday morning his decision for secretary of state is Rex Tillerson, Exxon Mobil CEO. Like Trump, Tillerson has no formal political experience, but has built foreign ties “on behalf of the world’s largest energy company” according to CNN.
