The Giving Machines, which stocks items for local and worldwide charities, have brought in over $3.7 million dollars so far in 2021. Located in 10 cities across the United States, these machines are a popular Light the World tradition and are managed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As of December 21, 2021, some of the items purchased include:
- 52,000 chickens
- 2,500 beehives
- 3,600 goats
- 992,000 meals for individuals and families
- 529,000 polio vaccines and other immunizations for children
- 300 acres of sweet potatoes
- 13,000 items of shoes and clothing
- 4,900 shelter and beds
- 15,000 personal care and hygiene kits
- 16,000 educational materials and services
- 1,800 water pumps
- 800 well installations
- 1,600 rainwater storage tanks
- 6,700 healthcare services
- 9,000 boxes of produce
The donations have come from approximately 265,000 people who have interacted with the machines. All donated funds go directly to each participating charitable organization.
