Giving Machines Bring in Nearly $4 Million for Charity

The Giving Machines, which stocks items for local and worldwide charities, have brought in over $3.7 million dollars so far in 2021. Located in 10 cities across the United States, these machines are a popular Light the World tradition and are managed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As of December 21, 2021, some of the items purchased include:

  • 52,000 chickens
  • 2,500 beehives
  • 3,600 goats
  • 992,000 meals for individuals and families
  • 529,000 polio vaccines and other immunizations for children
  • 300 acres of sweet potatoes
  • 13,000 items of shoes and clothing
  • 4,900 shelter and beds
  • 15,000 personal care and hygiene kits
  • 16,000 educational materials and services
  • 1,800 water pumps
  • 800 well installations
  • 1,600 rainwater storage tanks
  • 6,700 healthcare services
  • 9,000 boxes of produce

The donations have come from approximately 265,000 people who have interacted with the machines. All donated funds go directly to each participating charitable organization.
