A locker room friendship led to a lasting bond of faith for Bronson Kaufusi and Christian Uphoff, both players for the Green Bay Packers. Earlier this week, Kaufusi was able to baptize Uphoff as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
“It was just awesome to see him feel that joy and happiness that comes when you make decisions that can change your life,” Kaufusi told the Deseret News. “It was really great to see.”
Kaufusi also wrote on social media about the experience, saying it was “one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had.”
“From fishing, to lessons, scripture studies, prayers, blessings and to him making the decision to follow Christ. I’m so grateful to be a piece of his story and journey. Excited for his future!” he wrote.
Kaufusi signed with the Green Bay Packers in early 2021 as a tight end and was recently released as part of their final roster cuts. He has now been placed on the practice squad. Uphoff was signed as an undrafted free agent for the Packers after the 2021 NFL draft. He was also released this past week.
