A Latter-day Saint dentist from Aurora, Colorado, is making international news after he was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of first-degree murder for the death of his wife.
According to court records and affidavits, James Craig, 45, slowly poisoned his wife to death by lacing her pre-workout protein shakes with arsenic and cyanide. Angela Craig first began complaining of mysterious symptoms in early March, texting her husband that she felt her “head wasn’t right.” She was admitted to the hospital multiple times as her condition worsened. After blacking out, she was again taken to the hospital where she was placed on life support after suffering seizures. She did not regain brain activity and died on March 18.
During this time, Craig was allegedly flying his mistress to Colorado to visit and searching online if arsenic would appear in an autopsy. Angela’s symptoms first began two days after arsenic was delivered to the Craig’s home from Amazon. Craig shipped multiple poisonous substances, including potassium cyanide, to his dental office, requesting employees not to open the packages when they arrived. It was Craig’s dental practice partner who alerted a nurse to the purchase while visiting Angela in the hospital. He told a nurse he believed she had been poisoned. The nurse contacted authorities and the investigation began. Craig is currently in jail awaiting formal charges.
