Seven year-old, Willa Mason, doesn’t let her wheelchair get her down. Willa was born prematurely and was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy. However none of that has stopped her from being her best self.

Willa’s dad said, “The way she sees it, she is just as capable as anyone else.”

She found a love for dancing one day while watching the musical “Hamilton” on television.

“I felt something. The music just caught me, and I started dancing,” the little girl said. “I was like, ‘I want to dance, but I’m in a wheelchair. OK, I’ll dance with my wheelchair.’ I started dancing, and I was like, ‘I love this.’”

So when her school informed Willa of the annual Reflections contest, she knew what she would do. She could dance!

Willa decided to dance to the song The Other Side from her favorite movie about being who you are, The Greatest Showman. Her dad filmed her dance in a parking lot on his phone.

The video of Willa’s wheelchair dance went on to not only win at her school, but also at the district, state and national levels.
