Meridian Idaho Temple Construction Site Vandalized

According to a local news report and blog post from the county sheriff, the Meridian Idaho Temple construction site has been vandalized with racist and anti-religious symbols.

The vandals broke in over the weekend, likely between Friday evening and noon Saturday, and used black spray paint to cover the walls. They also took tubes of construction adhesive and emptied them all over the floors and walls. Damage is estimated to be at $500. Since last year, the site as also experienced theft. Last year another temple, the Fort Collins Colorado Temple, was vandalized during the construction phase.

The Meridian Idaho Temple was announced in April 2011, with Elder David A. Bednar overseeing the groundbreaking and site dedication in August 2014.

Though no dates have been announced, the temple will likely be finished sometime in late 2017 or early 2018. Once completed, it will be the fifth temple in Idaho.

Anyone with information is requested to contact the sheriff’s department here.
