Mormon Bishop Injured During Carjacking on Road to Recovery

Mormon Bishop in Coma After Car Robbery Outside Church

A bishop is fighting for his life in hospital after being dragged along the road as he tried to stop thieves stealing his car outside a church.

David Charmbury, 45, was attacked by robbers as he opened up the Church of Latter Day Saints in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham, on Sunday morning.

He then clung to his Mazda as the thieves stole it and suffered serious injuries when he was dragged down the street.

A passer-by heard a “loud bang” and discovered the Mormon bishop lying unconscious in the road near the church.

Mr Charmbury, who took over as bishop last November, was rushed to hospital and placed in an induced coma with serious head injuries.
