According to multiple reports, former presidential nominee Mitt Romney will be meeting with president-elect Donald Trump this weekend to discuss a possible position for Romney in Trump’s cabinet. NBC News states a source close to Trump revealed the position discussed will be for the secretary of state position.
However, the meeting has not officially been confirmed by either party at this time.
Romney was one of Trump’s harshest critics during the election and Trump once made the statement, “I have lots of friends and by the way, Mitt Romney is not one of them. Are you sure he’s a Mormon?”
Romney shared his own sharp words, calling Trump a phony and repeatedly stating he didn’t have the temperament or skill to be president. However, after the election, Romney congratulated Trump and wished him luck.
Since his election, Trump has been reported to have conversations with his Republic detractors in an effort to bring some harmony to the fractured GOP.
