Temple News & Updates – Week of October 24

Here at LDSDaily.com, we know that members of the church sure love temples. However, I would only hear about the status of a temple when it was announced, during the groundbreaking ceremony, the open house, the placement of the Angel Moroni, and the dedication. However, there is so much more going on with these sacred buildings that we just never hear about. So, we decided to post weekly (every Sunday) updates about the temples from around the world. What better way to stay up to date on what is going on with His holy houses.

Star Valley Wyoming Temple Dedicated

Update: The Star Valley Wyoming Temple is set to be dedicated today in three sessions. A cultural celebration was held on Saturday evening.

Temple Facts: President Thomas S. Monson announced the Star Valley Wyoming Temple in October 2011. Ground was broken on April 25, 2015; it is the first temple in Wyoming.

Construction Moves Forward on Durban South Africa Temple

Update: After rainy weather halted construction, work has resumed on the Durban South Africa Temple. Contractors worked this week setting forms for the temple and adjacent meeting house, as well as adding fencing and digging storm water trenches.

Temple Facts: The Durban South Africa Temple was announced on October 2011. Elder Carl B. Cook presided over the groundbreaking dedication in April 2016. Once completed, it will be the fifth temple in Africa and the second temple in South Africa.
