Dakota Nelson, a young father of seven and a seminary teacher for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, faced a nightmare when his wife collapsed in July of a heart attack that left her brain starved for oxygen for more than 20 minutes. After three months in a coma, Ream Nelson passed on September 23, 2018.
Working three part-time jobs to support his family and preparing for the first holiday season after the loss, Dakota was surprised by the East Idaho News team, who came to deliver $10,000 to the Nelsons as an early Christmas gift from Secret Santa. You can watch what happened below.
Secret Santa is an anonymous donor who enlisted the news team to give away a quarter of a million dollars to needy families in Idaho this Christmas season. You can watch more of the Secret Santa surprises just like this one at EastIdahoNews.com.
