Mormons Join Christians Around the World to Celebrate the Bible

Christians around the world are celebrating the International Day of the Bible and International Bible Week, which kicked off Monday, November 24, 2014. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are joining other Christians to share their love for the Bible on social media channels.

The Mormon Channel and posted links to videos and information about the Bible on their social media channels, including Facebook and Twitter. Those participating are encouraged to use the hashtag #BibleCelebration.

“Reading the Holy Bible has helped me learn about the Lord’s mortal mission, resurrection, and divine grace,” Elder Bednar added on Facebook.

International Bible Week is an annual event sponsored by the National Bible Association, which hosted its convention in Salt Lake City a year ago. It has been held during the week of Thanksgiving since 1941.

“Honoring God’s word and asking Him to bless our nations and bring peace to the world is particularly apt in this period of great turmoil,” said Richard Glickstein, president of the New York City-based National Bible Association.

The Bible is one of the foundational volumes of scripture used in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is used in conjunction with other scriptures, including the Book of Mormon. The Church has produced a series of Bible videos about the life of Jesus Christ that are available online.

  1. I missed commenting on the actual Bible Connection day. So now I would like to share my testimony about the Holy Bible, God’s word to the world. I am so very grateful for the Old and the New Testaments, both were given threw Prophets to the world by our Savior Jesus Christ; in the Old Testament as Jehovah and as Jesus Christ in the New Testament. It testifies to me that God is the same today, tomorrow and always. When He also gave us added scripture in our day in the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price we know more about a loving Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ and Their eternal plan of Happiness for all of us. I just finished reading the Old Testament for the second time and have read the other scriptures many times. I am so thankful for all of them. I encourage everyone to read and live by them. It will bring you lasting happiness.
