The Church of Jesus Christ Releases Official Photo of New First Presidency

On October 26, 2025, a simple photograph captured a sacred shift in leadership within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Standing side by side in the image are President Dallin H. Oaks, President Henry B. Eyring, and President D. Todd Christofferson—the newly organized First Presidency of the Church.

A Continuation of Service

The change came with the passing of President Russell M. Nelson on September 27 at age 101. As the Church’s Newsroom explained, the new presidency continues the pattern of steady, inspired succession that has guided the Church from its beginning.

President Oaks had served as First Counselor to President Nelson since 2018, and President Eyring had also been part of that presidency. Together, they provided experience and stability as they welcomed President Christofferson, who has served in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles since 2008.

For many members, this moment carries both gratitude and tenderness. It’s a time to honor the prophetic leadership of President Nelson while sustaining those now called to continue the work.

A Picture Worth Remembering

In addition to the official portrait, an accompanying photograph of President Oaks alone was also taken at Church headquarters in Salt Lake City. Though simple in appearance, the images speak to millions of members who look to these men as spiritual guides.

In homes and chapels around the world, portraits like this one often hang where families gather to pray and study the gospel. They remind members that the Lord continues to guide His Church through living prophets. They’re also a reminder that faith isn’t dependent on one person—it endures through every transition.

What Members See in the Moment

To Church members, the image is more than official documentation—it’s a reminder that the work of salvation continues. It confirms to believers that God still calls prophets, that His gospel is steady despite changes in the world and our individual lives. The Church’s Newsroom report framed the portrait as an emblem of that truth, capturing a moment of unity and renewal for a worldwide faith.

For many, it also sparks reflection on personal discipleship. As the new First Presidency begins its ministry together, members are invited to look forward with faith—to serve, to listen, and to lift one another.

A Steady Light Ahead

While the photograph marks the beginning of a new chapter in Church leadership, it also reflects a deeper continuity that has always defined the gospel of Jesus Christ. The faces may change, but the message remains the same: to follow the Savior, to love others, and to trust in divine guidance.

In that spirit, this new image becomes more than a picture—it becomes a promise. It assures every member that the Lord is still at the helm, and that His work will move forward, steady and sure, through those He has called to lead.
