Six New Temple Renderings Released in North America

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released six new temple renderings in North America. The Cuernavaca and Toluca Mexico Temples are among the four new temples planned near Mexico City, announced during the October 2022 general conference.

The new renderings also include images of the Cincinnati Ohio, Des Moines Iowa, Missoula Montana, and Tacoman Washington Temples.

Cuernavaca Mexico Temple

The Cuernavaca Temple will be built on a 5.36-acre site in Colonia Vista Hermosa, Morelos, featuring a single-story design of 19,000 square feet. President Nelson highlighted the need for new temples in large metropolitan areas, explaining, “Travel time to an existing temple is a major challenge.”

Toluca Mexico Temple

Similarly, the Toluca Temple will be constructed on a 4.87-acre site in Metepec, State of Mexico. Like Cuernavaca, it will span 19,000 square feet. Mexico now has 25 dedicated temples, with others under construction.

Cincinatti Ohio Temple

In the United States, the Cincinnati Ohio Temple will be the first in the city. Located on a 35-acre site in Mason, Ohio, the temple will be a single-story structure covering 29,630 square feet. President Nelson announced this temple in April 2024, stating, “The temple is the gateway to the greatest blessings God has for each of us.”

Des Moines Iowa Temple

The Des Moines Iowa Temple, Iowa’s first, will be built on a 19.576-acre site in Johnston, Iowa. The 18,850-square-foot temple was also announced in April 2024. This state’s history with Latter-day Saints dates back to pioneer communities established in the 1840s.

Missoula Montana Temple

Montana’s Missoula Temple, announced in April 2022, will occupy a 5.08-acre site. This 19,000-square-foot structure will include an ancillary building. President Nelson affirmed, “Positive spiritual momentum increases as we worship in the temple.”

Tacoma Washington Temple

Finally, the Tacoma Washington Temple will be the first in the city. Planned for an 11.6-acre site in Federal Way, the temple will span 45,000 square feet. It will join five other temples in the state, reflecting Washington’s rich Latter-day Saint history dating back to 1854.

Temples are central to Latter-day Saint worship, uniting families and offering opportunities for sacred covenants.
