1837 Having outrun other baptismal candidates to the River Ribble, George D. Watt becomes the first convert in Great Britain when he is baptized by Elder Heber C. Kimball.
1844 Samuel Smith dies of “bilious fever” just over a month after the martyrdom of his brothers Hyrum and Joseph.
