1952 U.S. president Dwight D. Eisenhower asks Elder Ezra Taft Benson to serve as the U.S. secretary of agriculture. Acting on the advice of President McKay, Elder Benson acepts and serves in the position for eight years.
1979 Elder Boyd K. Packers breaks ground and dedicates a site for the Mexico City Temple, the first temple to be built in Mexico.
1990 Lloyd D. Newell becomes the voice of the Music and the Spoken Word.
