In a fitting move, the New Orleans Saints have named Taysom Hill, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as one of their team captains for the 2024 season. Known for his versatility and leadership on the NFL field, Hill’s appointment underscores his importance to the team.
Hill, who has played multiple roles for the Saints, expressed his gratitude for the honor. “It’s hard to put into words what it means to be a captain. I would say that the greatest form of, you know, respect and accountability comes from your peers. So to have the opportunity to be a captain representing this team really means a lot to me,” he said.

Hill’s journey from overcoming multiple season-ending injuries during his college career at BYU to becoming a key player for the Saints is a testament to his resilience and determination. From his days as a college quarterback to his flourishing career in the NFL, Hill has been open about his faith and the strength that it gives him.
Of the twists and turns his life and football career have taken, Hill said in a podcast earlier this year, “As I look back at the things that have happened in my life and what’s led me to being right here, right now, I just cannot deny that God’s hand has been doing all of this.”
Joining a group of eight leaders, Hill’s role as captain highlights the Saints’ emphasis on strong leadership and unity. His ability to adapt and excel in various positions has earned him the respect and trust of his teammates, making him a valuable asset both on and off the field.
Hill’s appointment as captain is a well-deserved recognition of his contributions to the team. His example of perseverance continues to inspire many.
