The Plan of Salvation, also known as the Plan of Happiness and the Plan of Redemption, is the plan created by God for the happiness and exhalation of his children. It is centered on Jesus Christ and helps answer some of the great questions of life. When studying the Plan of Salvation, it can seem like a lot to take in and understand. However, there is a simple and beautiful way to internalize its message: singing Primary songs!
Here are some of the key parts of the Plan of Salvation and a Primary song to go along with it.
Pre-Earth Life | I Lived in Heaven, Children’s Songbook, #4
Before we were born on earth, we lived as spirit children of our Heavenly Father. It was during this time that God presented his plan to help us become like him. This included us coming to Earth to gain a physical body and the need for our Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Creation | My Heavenly Father Loves’ Me, Children’s Songbook, #228
Jesus Christ created the earth under the direction of our Heavenly Father as a place to live during our time of testing and trial. Everything was created for our benefit. We are the most precious of God’s creations.
Agency & Our Life on Earth | Teach Me to Walk in the Light, Children’s Songbook, #177
While on Earth, we are meant to find joy and prepare to return to live with God. During our life on Earth, we must make choices. God has provided us with multiple tools, including prophets, scriptures, and the Gift of the Holy Ghost, to help us to choose the right and follow Jesus Christ.
The Atonement of Jesus Christ | He Sent His Son, Children’s Songbook, #34
The Plan of Salvation centers on Jesus Christ. He was chosen before the world was organized to be our Savior; his atoning sacrifice allows us to overcome our fallen world. We overcome both physical and spiritual death through Christ. As we rely on the Atonement, we can be forgiven of our sins, receive help through our trials, and find peace.
Kingdoms of Glory | Families Can Be Together Forever, Children’s Songbook, #188
