My name is Grecia Itzayana Delgadillo Rueda, I am 19 years old and I am from Mexico, Campeche. I was born in the Church thanks to my great grandparents who decided to accept the gospel in their lives when they were young. I am a current student at BYU’s English Language Center, and this is the story of how I got here:
I was a student of the last generation at Benemerito, the school run by the church in Mexico that now is an MTC. I remember perfectly that during my second year, Elder Bednar made a visit to the school to give a talk and answer some questions of the students. In order to be prepared, leaders encouraged all the students to pray and think about questions that we could ask him. While I was reading my scriptures, I felt that I was going to learn something that would change my life, so I prayed to know what it was. Suddenly, something came to my mind: “What am I supposed to do after Benemerito?” That question got stuck in my mind all night, so as many of you may imagine, that day I did not get to sleep.
My thoughts were going from place to place thinking about my future, and so I knew that that was the question I would keep in mind for the devotional. Finally the day arrived, and after many prayers, scripture reading, and a very memorable fast I was ready. During Elder Bednar’s devotional I felt the spirit in a way I cannot describe with words. I was feeling that my heart was burning, and then, a thought captivated my mind: “Go to BYU Provo”.
In that moment I knew what my Heavenly Father wanted me to do. It has not been easy. I have been through many hard moments since I made the decision to come here. Something that has been my motivation during those hard times is the trust that I have in the Lord. I know without doubt that He is guiding me, and that even if things appear to be falling apart, everything is going to be all right . I love the gospel and the opportunity that my Heavenly Father gives me every day to be His hands and help others in the same way He helps me every second of my life.
