This Day in Church History
1847: Brigham Young enters the Salt Lake Valley, the journey from Winter Quarters having taken him 111 days. Having been ill with Colorado Tick Fever, he is one of the last of the pioneer company to enter the valley. That same day, those had arrived on July 22 begin planting crops.
1857: While celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Saints’ arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, Brigham Young receives word that U.S. President James Buchanan is sending an army against the Saints in Utah.
1929: The Czechoslovak Mission is organized.
1975: President Spencer W. Kimball dedicates the new 28 story Church Office Building in Salt Lake City.
